My name is Topanga and last night, February 24th 2024 I was crowned Miss Culver City! I could not be more excited for the journey ahead and I’m thrilled to bring you along!
My Experience
I had so much fun competing with some incredible women at this competition. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to compete in a Miss America Local Competition I can tell you it is truly an inspiring experience. What’s beautiful about MAO is that it is full of women who are working to the be the best version of themselves and create real change in their community. I had the privilege of getting to know these women and they truly have such kind hearts. The Sisterhood in Miss America is real and I certainly felt it during this competition.
A big goal of mine for this competition was to show up as my authentic self and have fun! Sometimes it can be easy to start overthinking, but what I’ve learned competing in this organization is that there is always something to learn regardless of if you win a crown. I approach each competition thinking about competing with myself. I’m not focused on outperforming other candidates, I’m trying to challenge what my best is and see if I can push past it. My goal is to give one hundred percent of myself and stay open to learning and growing. I’m grateful to continue my journey with the Miss America Organization and am ready for the year ahead!
How it works!
Let’s break down how the competition works! Both Teen and Miss Candidates compete in five different stages of competition. The private interview takes place the morning/afternoon of competition day and is ten minutes. Competition night candidates will be asked an on-stage question that is related to their community service initiative. Then candidates will wear Rebel Athletic Wear and take the stage to demonstrate their commitment to the Miss America Fit Lifestyle in the Health and Fitness portion of competition. The talent phase of competition allows candidate to showcase their special skills. During this phase we see everything from emotional dances, to beautiful singers, to powerful HER Stories. A HER Story is a story candidates perform to “inspire, captivate & entertain.” Candidates then finish out the final phase of competition with evening gown.

I’m incredibly grateful to be Miss Culver City 2024 and can’t wait for the year ahead. I know this is going to be a fun year and I hope to make Culver City proud. This June I’m heading to Miss California for the 100th Anniversary of Miss California and I‘m thrilled to be a part of such a big year for this organization. Here’s to the start of a new chapter and one exciting adventure!
